Mile Creek

Plan to improve boat launch and recreational activities
Davis & Floyd worked with Pickens County to create a master plan for Mile Creek Park on the shores of Lake Keowee. The master plan’s focus was to improve the boat launch and recreational spaces throughout the park. With the improvement of the parking lot and boat launch facilities, existing recreation spaces had to be relocated and improved. The master plan included incorporation of existing and proposed rental cabins and camping areas. Pickens County also wanted to include additional trails, fishing piers, picnic areas, and other amenities.

Identified and provided areas for local stakeholders
Davis & Floyd worked closely with Pickens County to identify which amenities were important to their stakeholders and would get the best use. Once these amenities were identified, we analyzed the site to identify key areas that would work best for each amenity. The most important use was a day-use area that incorporated a public beach and swimming area. Topography and water access restrictions were key drivers for this project. Circulation routes were carefully chosen to minimize impacts to the natural setting of the site.
