The project is near and dear to the heart of Davis & Floyd President and CEO Stephen Davis. A pioneer in Traditional Neighborhood Development, Davis has managed private development projects involving award-winning communities including Habersham, where he also served as the project engineer and spent years living in the area as well.
Habersham paved the way for the now popular new urbanist communities, which were modeled after European villages.
When asked what makes Habersham unique, Davis said, “Habersham is authentic. The idea wasn’t to have the nicest golf course or an over-the-top design. We wanted a community that truly embodied what a neighborhood should be. It’s accessible, friendly, and inviting.”
Davis & Floyd was involved with Habersham from the beginning. The company assisted in master planning the site as well as preparing for and offering engineering support for multiple phases of development. Davis & Floyd also provided design, permitting, and construction management services for more than 16 miles of roads and alleys; four pump stations; six large ponds; pool complex; 10-acre recreation complex; multiple parks; and water and sewer to serve more than 700 homes with plans to add another 500.
