Uptown Greenwood was recently named one of the 15 great places in America by the American Planning Association (APA). Davis & Floyd is honored to have been a part of this project.
Davis & Floyd worked with the City of Greenwood to provide engineering (civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical), landscape architecture, and construction management services for the 6,000-square-foot Greenwood Uptown Market. Completed in April 2016, the vibrant recreational facility encourages the community to come together to attend produce market days, concerts, parties, and festivals as well as play in the greenspace and 3,000-square-foot interactive water feature. This special project uniquely blends commerce with recreation and beauty with function.
In February 2017, Davis & Floyd received an Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of South Carolina (ACEC-SC) for our work in the development of the Greenwood Uptown Market.
Additionally, Davis & Floyd worked with the City of Greenwood on the Uptown Greenwood streetscape. The work included designing and managing eight Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)/South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT)-funded streetscapes, corridor, and parking lot projects for the City of Greenwood. Davis & Floyd also demolished and replaced roadways, sidewalks, and crosswalks and upgraded underground utilities including gas, water, and sewer.
According to the APA, “Great Places in America program, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, recognizes streets, neighborhoods, and public spaces in the United States demonstrating exceptional character, quality, and planning — attributes that enrich communities, facilitate economic growth, and inspire others around the country.”
Congratulations to the City of Greenwood on this well-deserved accomplishment!
