North Charleston Sewer District Felix C. Davis WWTP was a 27-MGD conventional secondary wastewater treatment plant that needed to be upgraded and expanded for better efficiency and future growth.
2010 American Council of Engineering Companies of South Carolina (ACEC-SC) Palmetto Award Finalist and Engineering Excellence Award
Optimized design parameters through computer modeling; provided automated dissolved oxygen control system that employed high efficiency equipment such as single stage-blowers; used V-port ball valves; and implemented luminescent dissolved oxygen probes to improve energy efficiency
Upgraded the plant to prepare for growth in the services area
Expanded capacity to 32 MGD
Improved performance and reliability of plant
Increased energy efficiency to reduce operating costs
Used new technologies to produce a highly-efficient WWTP
Upgraded the WWTP for future growth in the North Charleston area
Implemented state-of-the-art, energy-efficient, environmentally-sustainable technologies to improve the WWTP
Project was completed a month ahead of schedule and approximately $1 million under budget
